Electronics Canon Pixma MX700 Office All-On-One Inkjet Printer (2186B002)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Better than the HP
This is a great little all-in-one printer. I have a very small office space and it fits perfectly on a lamp table next to my desk. It operates efficiently and, compared the HP in my main office, quietly. It's not the fastest thing in the world, but speed was not what I was looking for. Printing quality is very good. I had a question about scanning and the customer service people (in the U.S.!) were quite helpful.

I like this printer much better than the HP L7700 and wish I'd done more research before buying the other.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Piece of junk.
Had this model for less that one year. It locked up with error code 6A80 and is useless. Error is undocumented. It will go in the trash can and be replaced by another, but DEFINITELY NOT A CANON.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Handy and convienent
I am personally not a huge fan of Inkjet printers in general ever since my first Epson C62 gave me a huge amount of problems with clogging and while this doesnt affect all printers... it has annoyed me nonetheless. To fix this issue, I bought a laser printer and networked it in my home. That is by far the best thing ever. Enough background, whats so good about this model?

At first I wanted a laser multifunction but that alone became more expensive than I could afford at the time. So i decided on looking for an Inkjet multifunction instead. Came across several canon models but this one was one sale and so i sprung for it.

The prints are great both color and b&w, the ink however does smear if you intend on using a highlighter. Important for me since I'm a student and print out journals all the time. The scanner has fantastic resolution, I scanned a few of my photos from disneyland and It came out very close to the original digital version. So for the most part, it does what it's supposed to do. If your looking for a good quality, featured multifunction then this one fits the bill pretty well. Still I'd prefer a laser if you had a bigger budget just because those tend to be faster and can be quite cheap if you refill toners yourself.

Nonetheless the best part of this is its ability to be networked for both printing and scanning. As long as theres a network you are able to setup any one of your computers PC and Mac to scan directly and convert to PDF. The ADF also works pretty well and so scanning several pages of my lab notebook straight to a PDF to send to friends is a huge plus. You do however need to install the canon software for this feature to work.

It is missing a cable but if you intend on using the network instead, which is much better imho, you only need the cable for the first installation of the drivers and firmware updates.

Enjoy the convenience, thats what i love the most about it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - PIXMA MX700
I based my decision to purchase the Cannon on Product Reviews. My prior all-in-one printer was not very old, however, used excessive & expensive ink, required two color cartridges to print Black, would not recognize third party cartridges and forgot the customer was important. My MX700 is a "Professional Product".
