Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A breath of fresh air....
This magazine offers intellectual critiques of current U.S. foreign policy, trade policies, and immigration policies, as well as the traditional conservative critiques of government and social policies. The American Conservative should be a must-read for any conservative as well as any liberal. You may not agree with everything that they say, but all of the contributors represent a new (but old) brand of conservatism that is sorely needed, and hopefully will inspire the mainstream.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Home of TRUE conservatism
Unlike neocon/neo-Jacobin rags like The Weekly Standard, the National Review, Commentary and The New Republic, all of which purport to be journals of conservative thought, The American Conservative is a conservative journal. This wonderful newish fortnightly contains some of the very best writings from a non-interventionist, anti-globalist and America-First perspective.
If our government thought and acted more closely with the mindset contained herein, this nation would reclaim her past glory and we would stand tall and proud in a world that currently loathes us. Here's hoping more people read TAC and convince their elected representatives to act not in the interest of some globalist grand design, not in the interest of other small but vocal nations not their own, but with America's interests at heart. TAC fills an important and growing niche, one that again puts America first.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - old school paleocon conservativism
Thank heavens conservatism is moving in a new direction away from anti semitism and foreign policy isolationism and anti globalization

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A refreshing, unpredictable voice
Well, it's published my work, hasn't it, so naturally I'm going to be in favour of it. Still, it isn't only for that reason that I enjoy each issue as it comes, and why I drop nearly all my other reading when the latest issue arrives in the letterbox.

It avoids predictability and undue repetition (no mean feat, given its backs-to-the-wall ethos); its seriousness doesn't at all preclude jokes; and it combines famous writers with highly gifted unknowns. Unknown up till now, that is: the best of them certainly deserve fame.

The only aspect of TAC which I would query (and the reason I've given it four stars here, instead of five) is the paper stock, rather thin and delicate. Whether it will stand up to the repeated use over the course of decades - especially in libraries - which I'm sure the periodical will get, isn't clear. In any case, readers shouldn't let this matter deter them.
