I was surprised when I received it because it is not expensive but looks very clean and well constructed. Without the padding, I would say it stands at 17 and 3/4 inches. With the padding, it might be more like 18 1/2 inches, not the 19 inches indicated. There's another more expensive bench that goes up to 23 inches so you might think about that if you're really tall because I find at 5 foot 8 inches, this bench is the right height. I prefer putting a very thin pillow on top though because cushioning is thin. It is lightweight and sturdy. The hinges are bolted on with 4 screws each. There's even vinyl/leather (not sure) on the bottom of the seat which is stapled all the way around. Overall, impeccable finish and soldering. I was not able to verify the weight capacity.
