With three objectives--4x, 10x, and 40x--hours of scientific collection and observation await your young biologist. Heavy and heavy duty, this microscope is not for young children and is not a toy. Advertised for those ages 11 and older, it comes with five prepared glass slides. More blank ones could be purchased at a science supply store to create countless new samples to explore. The model plugs into a three-prong outlet to produce the light needed for magnification and will probably require adult help for initial use. I did read most of the reviews and had some reservations about this microscope. The microscope arrived within the promised delivery date and all screws and parts where they were suppose to be. I'm very happy with the overall microscope, my son is nine years old and seems to enjoy it very much.

Was very pleased with our purchase. Our 11 year child drove right into Christmas morning and it is still not broken! I couldn't be happier. It is not cheap looking in any means. All he wanted was a microscope but I didn't want to dish out big bucks in case he didn't use it. So I went with a medium value and feel like we got so much more.

I've bought several other inexpensive microscopes to do some examinations at home.

I breed dogs and frankly need this for breeding purposes.

I cannot express how much better this product is that any others I've tried.

The microscope is easy to use, extremely sturdy (most of it is NOT plastic). It doesn't tip, has an electric light which gives MORE than adequate lighting. The focus knob is large and easy to use (altho it does shift a bit occasionally). The images seen have exceptional clarity.

It only comes with a few sample slides (which are SUPER to look at) so you might want to purchase some blank slides and stains, etc, separately.

If you're looking for a really good, inexpensive microscope for an adult or child's home use, this is your best choice!

It's not a toy, it's a real microscope. It's well-built, operates very nicely and is well worth the price. I think it's perfect first microscope for anyone who's interested in science. My only complaint is that there are no blank slides included along with the prepared ones. That said, you may want to buy blank sides at the same time you order the 'scope. Then learn and enjoy!
