- Very weak sound
I bought these speakers to use with my laptop while stationed in Iraq back in 2006. I liked how portable they were, since they all fit in a convenient carrying case (often too small to neatly fit everything in there and still close the velcro). My biggest complaint is the sound being too quiet to really enjoy anything. The subwoofer (if you can call it that) provided almost decent bass sound, but went through batteries quickly- in fact I often didn't even use the subwoofer. The whole system is just way too weak for enjoyment. I say spend an extra $20 and get something more worth your while.

I ordered this item so I could play my Zune in my small dorm room. My roommate also has a speaker system but its for ipods so I can't play my music through those. I picked the Sanyo system because of its tiny size (won't take up too much space) and its pretty cool looking too. I just got my set yesterday but I've tested it and here's what I found:
Pros: The speaker set lives up to its reputation for being incredibly small. I was able to fit the entire speaker system and the wires into the bag, which is VERY convenient for travel. When I plugged in my Zune I found good results as well. The speaker is at its best with busier songs with punchy bass lines(ex Red Hot Chili Peppers, Franz Ferdinand). The bass line is clear and the treble coming out of the other two speakers is crisp and it sounds great. For these types of songs its great at a high or low volume. I am currently pregnant and I was looking for some little speakers that are battery operated to take into the hospital with me as I am not allowed to plug things in during labor. I spotted these speakers on a general search and decided that for the price I would give them a try. I have not as yet had the baby but I have used them around my house. I love the fact that they are little and compact. The three speakers are great to place around you so that it is not one sided when listening. I have used the plug since they were at home and have found them great. I am not a massive music lover that knows the ins and outs of how things should sound and so I have found the sound level and quality just great. So for the basic music listener I would recommend them. I have used them with my MP3 player and I do not regret my purchase. I searched through almost all of the portable speaker systems on Amazon trying to find the right one. I was reading the customer reviews, and this system seemed to have the best and most informative reviews, for which I am very thankful. So, here's mine, and I hope it helps someone else.

I was looking for portable speakers as an alternative to buying an FM Transmitter for using my ipod in my car. These seemed ideal, because I could also use them for my laptop and PSP system. The little speakers put out an impressive amount of sound, and the bass, though a little fuzzy at low volumes, is also noticeable and nice. I didn't even realize how bad the speakers on my laptop were until I compared them to this three-piece set.
