- A flirty fun read with a refreshing take.
What's a gal to do, when her BFF and partner gets practically blown away while working a case that involves bounded and mutilated human men with an MO of dark hair and eyes; a possible renegade alien species, the Arcadians; the surfacing of strange abilities within herself; AND lusts after an alien male that could be behind it all? Well. Agent Mia Snow, of A.I.R, has just the right solution. She'll kick, punch and swear then kill her way to victory, and makes no apologies for it.

In a world where aliens have made contact with earthlings, and the setting futuristic, with pyre-guns, cars that drive themselves, voice DNA technology that can track anyone just by recording their voice, and synthetic coffee, you just don't know what to expect. - Kickin' A** and Takin' Names
Gena Showalter is one of my favorite writers with paranormal romance, but now that I've had a taste of her futuristic romance, she has totally blown me away. I loved her female character, who was strong, sexy, confident and even more sexy, which I think all of us females wish we were. I didn't want the story to end and I hope there will be a continuation where the other fabulous characters all end of up with someone to love.

Showalter disappointed me with this book. I was leery of her at first but her other titles in the Atlantis series are really good but this one was slow in the beginning, and when the book got on track it slowed again. The herione in this book wasn't as memorable as the others from Pleasure Slave and The Nymph King.

I read the description of the book and thought I would give it a go, it seemed to have promise of at least a minimum amount of action. Sadly, I regretted paying for both the book and the shipping and handling. The love story is horribly, horribly contrived. There is little to no character development. The action is poorly written.

And let me just say something about the so-called erotic aspect. I do not find it alluring, sexually titillating, or at all intriguing to read about a man forcing a woman into a sexual relationship. It smacks of something disturbing. The love story is shoved on the reader as well, there is no rational, or even emotional stimulus, for the characters to form a bond. It just happens, and we as readers are supposed to just smile and say OK.
