In "House of M" the Marvel universe has been changed by the reality-altering powers of the Scarlett Witch to a world which is ruled by mutants. The five issue Mutopia X miniseries chronicles what happened to the characters of District X, which was cancelled due to the way the House of M story ended.

Human special agent Ismael Ortega and mutant cop Lucas Bishop get caught up in a tangled noirish story involving the Human resistance movement, a movie producer engaged in loads of illegal activities and his shapeshifting actress wife. Meanwhile Ortega's daughter, who has mutant DNA from her mother but whose powers haven't manifested, is being prepared for a ritual that will bring out her mutant powers.

The character of Ismael Ortega is fallable and his story is very real despite the surreality of the setting. The tale of the shapeshifting actress is poigniant and tragic. And the producer/mob ... Read More
