- Not a Desirable Read (C- Grade)
It's pretty sad when you finish a book and all you can think about is how boring it was. Such is the case with What Isabella Desires. I am a fan of unrequited love stories, but the affection Isabella had for her childhood friend Marcus was simply not believable. Their love affair was beyond dull to the point that I wondered how these two would co-exist with each other even after they have their HEA.

Marcus Stewart, Lord Roth, doesn't feel worthy of love for no particular reason that I can see. This doesn't make sense as Marcus seems to have it all with his dark hair, whiskey eyes, lush lips... well, you get the point. He has a wonderful set of friends and a woman who would do anything for him. He also happens to be a top notch something-or-other for the Foreign Office.

- Had promise, but turns out to be an average read.
A widow leading a safe respectable life on the fringe of the ton. Lady Isabella Willoughby need a change. She want Marcus, Lord Roth and is ready to do what is necessary to get him. He's reluctant to start an affair. Our heroine is deeply in love with the hero from page one. On first glance this book is nice. I read the first couple pages in the bookstore and was drawn in. The dialogue was engaging, the scene vivid. The story just didn't make it for me. Ms Mallory does a good job with the secondary characters. While I thought this story was average, she teased me enough with secondary characters that I want to read their stories.

- What an almost good book!
This book never really makes it off the ground. Too much angst on the part of the hero, if you can believe that! He's so concerned about his approaching illness that he pretty much just annoys everyone he knows and the author annoys the reader by dwelling on it so much. The interaction between the two protagonists is good, when they do interact. If you've been following the series you may just want to read it, if you are new to Anne Mallory, try Masquerading the Marquess, its the best of them all.
