Product Description:

James Cordier is all blue blood and entirely dangerous. He's a master of disguise, a brilliant thief, a first-class lover—all for King and Country—and, by gad, he's so weary of it. His last mission is to 'acquire' a packet of incriminating letters from one notorious woman. Then he can return to London and meet sweet-natured heiresses—not adventuresses and fallen women.

Francesca Bonnard has weathered heartbreak, scorn, and scandal. She's independent, happy, and definitely fallen; and she's learned that 'gentlemen' are more trouble than they're worth. She can also see that her wildly attractive new neighbor is bad news.

But as bad as James is, there are others far worse also searching for Francesca's letters. And suddenly nothing is simple—especially the nearly incendiary chemistry between the two most jaded, sinful souls in Europe. And just as suddenly, risking everything may be worth the prize.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A New Setting
Every Loretta Chase is a Keeper for me and Your Scandalous Ways is no exception. Setting the story in Venice and making the heroine a Lady of the Evening sets it apart. It's time we came to grips with the fact that virtue belongs largely, then and now, to those who can afford to it. Reality is that when it comes down to choosing between virtue and and survival the majority of us will choose to survive.
I won't say this book is my favorite Loretta Chase, that would probably be Captives of the Night, but it's very good nevertheless.
What I would like to know is why authors like Loretta Chase, Liz Carlyle, Eloisa James aren't available on audio? It can only come down to money, I suppose. Long, rich, wry books probably cost quite a bit to bring to audio and wouldn't bring in enough profits to justify making them.
It's really maddening to see all of those books that are no more than bare bones and ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - strong and dark
Really liked this book. Both lead characters were strong, dark and acted like adults. Also enjoyed the secondary characters and back story.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Can You Love A Prostitute Heroine?
I love Loretta Chase's writing so much, I would read her grocery lists....But I stopped short of five stars on this one because as likable as the heroine is, and as much backstory that is provided about WHY she became a prostitute, I had trouble getting over it....

As always, Ms. Chase research is impeccable, and her writing is fast, funny, and rich with interesting detail. All the characters are well-drawn and realistic. The hero is dashing and masculine and VERY understanding, obviously, as he really never has any sort of inner struggle with the fact that his beloved has sex with other men for money, or, in this case, jewelry.

I devoured every page and will anxiously await Ms. Chase's next release....So I guess I'll just call my issues with a hooker heroine my own problems, not those of the book. Read it and see for yourself....

Spoiler alert: It's even suggested, although ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A solid read from Chase, but not her best
I love Chase, especially the Carsington series (Miss Wonderful, Mr. Impossible, and Lord Perfect), and of course, Lord of Scoundrels was terrific. So I came to this book as a fan, and Chase is still an autobuy for me.

I did like it, and I do think it is worth reading, but the relationship between the h/h was not really well developed at all. It is not all that clear what draws them together. Especially jarring to me was the fact that the heroine was supposed to be this unapologetically sexy courtesan, yet we never once see that in her. She is beautiful and knows how to flirt, sure, but we never meet anyone she has had sex with, and she conveniently has no current lovers when the hero appears.

Even the sex scenes between the h/h read identically to any rake/spinster sex scenes you have read in Regency romance a million times. He touches her like no one else, renders her speechless and pliant with ease. ... Read More
