Product Description:

An explosion rips through New York City's Grand Central Station one morning, destroying the train Karen Friedman's husband, a successful hedge fund manager, is riding in to work. Days later, with many bodies still unidentifiable, Karen resigns herself to the awful truth: her husband of eighteen years is dead.

On that same day, a suspicious hit-and-run accident leaves a young man dead in Karen's hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut. Ty Hauck, a detective, becomes emotionally caught up in the case and finds a clue that shockingly connects the two seemingly unrelated events.

Months later, two men show up at Karen's home digging into Charles's business dealings. Hundreds of millions of dollars are missing—and the trail points squarely to Charles. With doubt suddenly cast on everything she has ever known, Karen, with Hauck, steps into a widening storm of hedge fund losses, international scams, and murder. And as the investigations converge, these two strangers touched by tragedy are pulled into a deepening relationship and unwittingly open the door to a twisted—and deadly—conspiracy.

With its breakneck pacing, plentiful twists, compelling characters, and abundant heart, The Dark Tide confirms Andrew Gross's place as a master storyteller at the top of his game.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Audio book review
The plot is pretty good, so the book had potential. But it's so hard to listen to, the only reason I am still listening is because I paid $35.00 for the audio book. There are several issues, the first.... is what's with ending every, and I mean every conversational sentence with the person's name? If this book has 10,000 words 3,000 of them are Karen, Saul and Charlie. It's ridiculous.
Next is the audio book is just over acted.
And finally in addition to the names being repeated a thousand times, many of the thoughts of the characters are repeated, way too many times. Not several places but within the same several pages.
I'm not sure if the author believes his readers to be stupid or if all the repetition just a filler.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Was This Supposed To Be A Romance Novel?
The author writes reasonably well. Thus, the pages do move. The basic plot was interesting. A hedge fund manager fleeced European mobsters for mega bucks. His mentor, a supposed family friend, was secretly working against him. The fund money backers discovered the cash shortage and started to tighten the screws. Conveniently, a bomb went off as the fund manager rode the metro north train into Grand Central Station in New York. Many were killed. What better excuse for the manager to decide to disappear. Which he did, to the Caribbean. Of course his wife assumed he was dead and mourned him for a year. Enter super cop Ty Hauck. Now he was just the perfect guy. Smart, good looking and in his own way romantic. Incidently, just one skeleton in his closet. He had come home from shopping a few years back and thought he had put the vehicle into park. But hadn't. It rolled backward killing one of his young daughters. That was ... Read More
