Product Description:

Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting . . . for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all . . .

It's true. He doesn't. Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay—and he does intend to marry her . . . eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas's world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he's not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love . . . with his own fiancée!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Wait, this story seems familiar...
I'd previously read The Lost Duke of Wyndham and I knew this book meshed with that one (the characters are the same) but I didn't realize that 75% of the book was going to be exactly the same. So many of the encounters involve all four main characters and so much of the story is revealed in the first book that it lost any punch. It had been awhile since I'd read the other, but not so long that I didn't remember how the story went, and it's not even as if this story goes much beyond the original - there can't be but 20 or so pages of this book past the end of the plot revealed in the last.

The only way you could get away with this is if the individual perspectives offered something new and interesting in each scene. Quinn was involved in a book that did just that (one of the Lady Whistledown compilations) and worked because each character's take on the encounter was quite different and interesting. ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great book, hearwarming story
Well, this book was actually really good, contrary to the reviews. I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews before picking out this book. This is my first Julia Quinn novel so I can't really say much about the whole 2 points of view Deja Vu thing. I actually really enjoyed this novel because it was funny and sweet. Highly recommended for first time Julia Quinn. After this book, I definetely intend to read her other ones.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant!
I absolutely loved filling in the gaps after reading The Lost Duke of Wyndham. Some people may have found it too monotonous, but I really didn't think it was. I loved knowing what each character was thinking during each scene and I enjoyed getting to know each person with such depth. It was truly like continuing a story that I never wanted to end in the first place and seeing it with a fresh pair of eyes. I had a great time reading this book. Julia Quinn has never disappointed me with any of her novels and this one is no exception.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not worth the money
I wish I could get paid to do what Julia Quinn did - rehash the same plot from my previous book for 90% of this book, then come up with an implausible ending where no one seems to care about what they spent the first 90% caring about, and then add an epilogue that tells my readers nothing about the last five years, but suddenly dumps a title in Thomas' lap with Amelia feeling nothing about the death of the person who brings this about. And everything is right again in the world of the Aristocracy. Bleh. Very lazy effort from a very talented writer. Save your money for a novel that is actually fresh and well written. Maybe next time that will actually be a Julia Quinn novel. Or maybe not.
